British Transport Police have charged a man with 10 counts of attempted murder after he allegedly attacked train passengers during a journey to London on Saturday.

Anthony Williams, 32, was arrested by police after the incident took place on a train in Cambridgeshire. A 35-year-old man was also arrested but has since been released.

Mr Williams has also been charged with one count of actual bodily harm and one count of possession of a bladed article.

Police said the bodily harm charge was in relation to an assault on a police office in a custody suite after the initial incident took place in Huntingdon.

A rail staff member who attempted to intervene during the incident remains in a life-threatening condition. Five others who were injured have since been discharged from hospital.
