IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - For more than 30 years, Dance Marathon at the University of Iowa has raised millions of dollars to help children in need; D2DM is the biggest fundraising event before the titular marathon in February.

The D2DM, which starts Monday at 9 p.m., will be held at the Iowa Memorial Union and will get as many students as possible in the spirit ahead of the big day. It’s also the biggest fundraising day ahead of the marathon itself.

“We celebrate every dollar raised,” Campbell Wood, Dance Marathon’s Executive Director, said. “That is one more dollar that could go to a child’s treatment or go to a meal for this family so they can enjoy some of their favorite foods outside of the hospital.”
