Passed bill authored by State Rep. Lindsey LaPointe aims to revise multiple Illinois codes to require self-insured entities to provide specific health benefits and ensure reimbursement parity for mental health and substance use disorder treatments, according to the Illinois General Assembly.
In the House, 67 Democrats and five Republicans voted in favor of the bill, while 33 Republicans opposed it.
Meanwhile, in the Senate, 40 Democrats and eight Republicans voted in favor of the bill, while 10 Republicans voted against it.
Lapointe introduced the bill in the Illinois House on Jan. 9, 2025 during the 104th session.
