NEW JERSEY (PIX11) – It's going to be a close race for New Jersey governor as voters prepare to head to the polls on Tuesday.

The newest PIX11 News-Emerson College-The Hill poll showed Democratic nominee Mikie Sherrill holding a slight lead over Republican nominee Jack Ciattarelli. The election is being seen as a bellwether – a sneak peek at next year’s midterm elections and a crucial test for the Trump administration.

The PIX11 News poll surveying Garden State voters indicated the margins of the governor’s race, with Sherrill at 50.4% and Ciattarelli at 48.4%. A similar squeeze in polling from Suffolk University found Sherrill leading at 46% to Ciattarelli’s 42% statewide.
