(WPRI) — Open Enrollment for health insurance marketplaces in Rhode Island and Massachusetts began this weekend.

This year, there are a lot of changes and uncertainties because of new federal regulations in the "One Big Beautiful Bill" that was passed over the summer in Washington.

It affects who qualifies for some plans and programs, and how much it could cost.

The biggest change you'll see if you're purchasing insurance through Health Source Rhode Island and the Massachusetts Health Connector is cost.

During the pandemic, the Affordable Care Act tax credits were expanded to include households above 400% of the federal poverty line. For example, that means a family of four can make more than $150,000 a year and qualify for a tax credit.
