A multi-car crash in Calhoun County is being blamed for the deaths of two people and left a child injured.

Around midnight Sunday, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said both Patryck Smith, 37, and Kimberly Feazell, 40, were killed when the vehicles they were driving collided on State Route 9 near Piedmont.

Both Smith and Feazell were pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

A nine-year-old who was in the car driven by Feazell was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. Their current condition is not known.

The cause of the crash has not been announced, but ALEA said troopers with its Highway Patrol Division are investigating.
