After initially refusing, the Trump administration announced Monday, it would tap into contingency funds to deliver partial Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

benefits this month, following a judge's order. In the meantime, a big push continues by Birmingham city leaders to aid those impacted.

It's a simple act of kindness that could have a huge impact on a family that won't get their food stamps this month. Nancy Martin is a Sunday School teacher. Her fifth and sixth-grade students came up with foods to donate that kids would enjoy.

Martin said, “We had peanut butter and cereal and spaghetti and mac and cheese.”

She said this real-life situation became the basis of their Sunday School lesson, with an opportunity to act and help someone else.
