Tamara Quigley is doing her best to encourage kids to play outside.
So is her twin sister Tawnya.
Both were among a group of volunteers who spent a couple of hours handing out skates, hockey sticks, gloves, pads, baseball bats and gloves to young people on Saturday.
“This is something I believe in because I’ve seen the benefits,” Quigley, the secretary at Holy Cross School in Brantford, said. “Technology has changed the world and children aren’t moving much.
“Playing outside gets them moving and teaches them a lot of life lessons.”
Quigley, 53, said children learn about team work, responsibility and how the world works.
