A man died after a fire broke out in his Halifax home early Monday morning, fire officials said.
Halifax police and firefighters went to 138 Holmes St. after a neighbor called 911 shortly before 12:30 a.m. Arriving firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the back of the home, said Halifax Fire Chief Michael Witham, Halifax Police Chief Joao A. Chaves, State Fire Marshal Jon M. Davine, and Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz in a joint statement.
Firefighters made their way into the home to find any occupants and found one man, the sole resident, unresponsive, officials said. They pulled the man from the building and immediately began lifesaving efforts. The man was taken to a hospital by an ambulance.
He was pronounced dead later Monday morning, officials said. The
