A Bengaluru-based engineer’s post on choosing peace of mind and family time over a higher salary has triggered a discussion on redefining success and work-life balance.

In a post on LinkedIn, Shubham Soni said that he left his job at Amazon for a work-from-home role with a slightly lower package. Although he struggled to arrive at this conclusion initially, he ultimately found it fulfilling enough.

“Earning 50–70K from home feels far better than chasing 1–1.5 LPA in a metro city,” Soni said. He admitted that before switching, he worried about the impact on his career growth, future hikes, and leaving behind a reputed brand name.

“But looking back now, I don’t regret it at all. I was living alone there. Now, I’m surrounded by family, and that peace is priceless,” he added.
