Four people have suffered 'minor injuries' after an Avanti train derailed in Cumbria. The early morning service from Glasgow to London Euston came off the tracks near Shap following a 'suspected landslide' - although the cause of the derailment is yet to be determined.

Emergency services were deployed to the scene after a 'major incident' was declared with paramedics assessing 87 patients in total. Network Rail has confirmed that there no major injuries to passengers or staff and everyone on board has now been evacuated.

Passengers and staff were taken to the Shap Wells Hotel nearby after they were evacuated from the train but they have now left.

It comes after the Avanti West Coast train derailed at around 6.10am, prompting a huge response from the emergency services.
