When the stench from having prolific Republican liar George Santos as a member of the U.S. House became overpowering, even his GOP colleagues who desperately needed every vote they could corral in an almost evenly divided chamber, said enough is enough, and succeeded in a rare vote to oust him.
Expulsion from Congress was to be only the beginning of the disgraced former member’s punishment. The felon faced more than seven years in prison for the harm he caused, his self-dealing and self-enrichment, and all the people he had hoodwinked.
Santos, though, had the good fortune to be a loyal foot soldier of the President of the United States. As a result, his crimes apparently do not matter, and he is now to be sprung from prison.
