DALLAS — A police standoff caused a closure in both the east and westbound lanes of Interstate 20 on Monday morning in southeast Dallas, officials said.
The incident was reported around 4:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, in the eastbound lanes of I-20 at US 175, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
A vehicle stalled on Interstate 20, and the driver, who was alone in her car, pulled a gun and remained in her car, according to the Dallas Police Department.
SWAT responded to the scene and the woman died by an apparent suicide, officials said.
The incident prompted officials to shut down all eastbound lanes of the highway, and later, all westbound lanes were closed too, according to TxDOT. Traffic was severely backed up in both directions of I-20 due to the standoff, as shown by TxD
