HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - On this date in 1947, Yeager Airport was dedicated in Charleston.

It was called Kanawha Airport back then.

The main terminal building wasn’t even finished for three more years.

In 1985, it was named for Brigadier General Chuck Yeager of Lincoln County, the first man to break the sound barrier in an airplane.

The airport is going through a major renovation project that is now underway.
