The 2025 NFL trade deadline is November 4 at 4 p.m. E.T. That leaves teams with roughly one more day to add impact veteran talent -- or sell unwanted players for draft picks -- as the regular season crashes into its back half.
This fall's lack of elite, unquestioned contenders has given way to a long list of potential buyers with Super Bowl 60 aspirations. Eighteen NFL teams have .500 records or better -- and it could be 19 if the Dallas Cowboys can fend off the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football. No franchise has fewer than two losses. A wild playoff race looms on the horizon; the trade deadline may be the last gas station on that long journey to the postseason.
A handful of deals have already been consummated. The Cleveland Browns freed up Joe Flacco to throw for 470 yards in a single game as a Cincinnati Bengal. The New England Patriots dealt away a pair of 2024 starters in Keion White and Kyle Dugger to further close the door on their recent struggles. The Philadelphia Eagles... well, they've been busy.
What are we hearing as the deadline approaches? We've got some deals we want to see -- even if Jaelan Phillips wound up with a different NFC contender than the one we anticipated. Here's the chatter for November 3, one day before the NFL locks down its in-season trades.
The Dallas Cowboys have entered the chat
The Cowboys made a deal! At least according to Jerry Jones. No, we don't know who it involves yet. But given how monumental the last one Dallas made was, it could be interesting.
The Dolphins may not be done trading away defenders
Minkah Fitzpatrick's reunion with the Miami Dolphins may not last a full season. The former All-Pro safety, acquired last offseason in exchange for Jonnu Smith and Jalen Ramsey, is reportedly on the block.
The Bengals aren't about to give away players, even Trey Hendrickson
Trey Hendrickson has been one of the biggest names to come up in trade talks since his contract standoff with the Bengals reached new heights last offseason. But after Jaelan Phillips returned a third-round pick in deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, Cincinnati is intent on selling high on a soon-to-be 31-year-old pass rusher on an expiring contract.
The woeful Giants might be sellers
Here's an update from ESPN's Jordan Raanan:
The Miami Dolphins trade EDGE Jaelan Phillips to the Philadelphia Eagles for a third round pick
The biggest in-season trade of the year to date, at least in terms of draft capital, was a win-win move for the Eagles and Dolphins. Philadelphia added to a pass rush whose 16 sacks rank 24th among NFL teams at the season's halfway mark. Phillips will join an un-retired Brandon Graham in a revamped defensive front that hopes to recapture some of 2024's magic. While the former first round draft pick only has three sacks this fall, his 16.5 percent pressure rate is the highest of his career and would rank second only to Jalyx Hunt among the team's defensive linemen and outside linebackers.
Miami got a solid rebuilding chip for a player who once looked like a foundational piece but was no longer in the team's plans. Phillips missed the bulk of the 2023 and 2024 seasons due to injury, leaving the Dolphins to decline his fifth-year option. The deadline allowed a foundering team to swap out a young veteran who wouldn't be on the roster next fall for a top 100 draft pick on an inexpensive contract who will.
