State Auditor Shad White announced Monday that Special Agents have arrested Verneshia Cody, owner and operator of TDK Accounting and Tax Services, on allegations that she submitted fraudulent documents to the Mississippi State Department of Health to obtain funds from the MS COVID-19 Health Disparities Elimination Project, then used the money for personal expenses.

Investigators allege Cody withdrew sub-grant funds for her own use and secured additional grant money through fraudulent invoices, improper expense claims, and counterfeit checks.

“Our investigators worked tirelessly to uncover this scheme,” White said. “We will continue working with prosecutors to hold people accountable and make sure that your tax dollars are spent properly.”
