NEW ROADS, La. (WAFB) - Two girls remain hospitalized after being thrown from a ferris wheel at the New Roads Harvest Festival Saturday, sources said.

One girl has a possible brain bleed, and the other has broken bones, according to sources. Both girls spent the night in the intensive care unit.

The girls were thrown from the ferris wheel while at least 20 to 25 feet in the air on Saturday. A third rider was stuck in the basket and was rescued.

The ferris wheel and a nearby slide were closed while the festival continued. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the accident.
