Tesla’s Cybertruck has a dangerous flaw that could put other drivers at risk

Some 2024 Tesla Cybertrucks have been recalled because an off-road light bar accessory could detach and become a road hazard for other drivers.

Tesla said the problem is the use of an incorrect surface priming material on the windshield and the light bar, according to documents filed with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Tesla said it has identified 619 warranty claims and one field report related to the problem as of Oct. 24, 2025.

“Despite service instructions specifying use of the correct primer for each surface, in some cases, service technicians were inadvertently using BetaSeal on the windshield and BetaPrime on the optional off-road light bar accessory,” Tesla said.
