TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Hundreds of people gathered Sunday night at the University of Arizona to honor three students killed in a hit and run crash late Thursday night.
The memorial brought together students, professors, friends, and family to pay their respects to Sophia Troetel, Josiah Santos and Katya Castillo-Mendoza.
The event was organized by a freshman who didn’t know the victims but felt compelled to do something after being at the scene of the accident.
“It just was the right thing to do,” Vincenzo Cusano said.
The memorial was initially planned to honor two victims, Sophia Troetel and Josiah Santos, who died at the scene of the crash. Saturday morning, officials confirmed that a third victim, Katya Castillo-Mendoza, also died from her injuries. Sunday’s memorial honored all
