ST. PAUL, Minn. — The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for several counties in northeast Minnesota on Monday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. due to extreme fire risk conditions. This affects Aitkin, Carlton, Pine, and St. Louis counties. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) advises that fires can spread rapidly and become uncontrollable under these conditions, which include high wind gusts and low relative humidity. Residents are urged not to burn in the affected counties and to ensure any recent fires are completely extinguished. The DNR will not issue open burning permits for large debris during this warning, and campfires are discouraged. Red Flag Warnings are subject to change.
