ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is warning the public of an unregulated, “opioid-like substance” that poses health risks.

In a release by the Missouri DHSS on Monday, it was announced that the state has issued a Health Advisory on 7-hydroxymitragynine, also known as 7-OH, for serious health risks and potential death. The compound 7-hydroxymitragynine is a potent, psychoactive, synthetic derivative of kratom.

In the release, it is stressed that the presence of, or amount of, 7-OH in items is not always accurately disclosed. 7-OH is sold as consumables like gummies, candies, powders and liquid shots.
