ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - As the government shutdown nears a record 40 days, local veterans are among the latest impacted by delayed federal benefits.

A St. Louis supportive housing program for veterans is receiving community support to ensure that residents receiving SNAP benefits don’t experience a significant impact. Missouri officials stated that they planned to resume payments next week; however, following the latest court decision, they are now awaiting guidance from the USDA.

Inside RecoVET ’s intake house, 35 veterans live in the supportive housing program, a safe and structured setting where they can focus on recovery from mental health and substance use disorders.
