Capping off a tumultuous month for the small town, the Wilder School District welcomed home a notable alumnus to join its wall of fame.

ACLU Executive Director Leo Morales accepted a plaque at the Wilder High School auditorium Friday, speaking in front of approximately 500 students of all ages. Morales has a long history of advocacy in Idaho, including his 14 years at ACLU, and has focused on addressing poverty and racial justice according to the organization’s website .

“Thank you for all the work that you do to ensure that our community, and then our students are able to succeed,” Morales said, speaking behind a decorated podium. “It takes a community, and I’m a proud resident of Wilder.”
