VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Virginia Beach Mayor Bobby Dyer has sent a letter to U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, as well as Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, calling for an immediate end to the federal government shutdown.

In his letter , Dyer emphasized the real-world consequences the shutdown is having on residents, families, businesses, and the local economy.

Dyer began by noting his long-standing relationships with Warner and Kaine, recalling the days when both served as governors of Virginia. He acknowledged the difficult nature of politics today, describing it as “a contact sport” and observing that public confidence in government is at an all-time low.
