Israel on Monday arrested the military’s former top lawyer, Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, after she admitted leaking a video that appeared to show Israeli soldiers abusing a Palestinian detainee.

Her arrest was confirmed by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who said she was now under investigation for serious misconduct.

Tomer-Yerushalmi, who served as the Israeli military’s advocate general, went missing for several hours on Sunday shortly after announcing her resignation. Her disappearance led to widespread media speculation about a possible suicide attempt, but she was later found and taken into custody.
