SHREVEPORT, La. -- A driver died and his passenger was injured Sunday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash in Caddo Parish, Sheriff Henry Whitehorn said in a news release Monday.
The name of the man has not yet been released.
The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office said the crash happened around 4:10 p.m. on Elysian Fields Road just south of U.S. Highway 80.
Deputies said the driver was southbound in a 1990s model Ford Mustang at a high rate of speed when he lost control, crossed the center line and left the roadway. The car overturned, ejecting both occupants.
The passenger was thrown from the car and sustained moderate injuries. The driver was ejected and trapped underneath the car.
Fire department personnel and Greenwood police rescued the driver. He was taken to Ochsner LSU Health, where
