Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced the sentencing of Jakalyn Moore, of Southaven, for one count of Sexual Battery by a Person in Position of Trust and Authority and one count of Child Exploitation. The case was investigated and prosecuted by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office with assistance from the FBI.
On October 27, Tallahatchie County Circuit Court Judge Smith Murphey sentenced Moore, a former West Tallahatchie School District substitute teacher, to 25 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with 15 years to serve and 10 years of post-release supervision. Moore must register as a sex offender and pay a $2,000 assessment to the Victims of Human Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation Fund.
