The National Baseball Hall of Fame released the names of eight players for the upcoming Contemporary Era ballot for the Class of 2026 Monday — and Dwight Evans was not among them.
Instead, the ballot will feature these eight players: Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Carlos Delgado, Jeff Kent, Don Mattingly, Dale Murphy, Gary Sheffield and Fernando Valenzuela.
The Contemporary Era covers players whose primary contributions to the game came since 1980.
Evans was an eight-time Gold Glove winner and three-time All Star in a 20-year career that saw him play 19 seasons with the Red Sox . He finished with .272 career average and 385 homers and an OPS of .840. He also led baseball in extra-base hits during the 1980s.
