Residents were left puzzled over the weekend after an entire lamppost bearing speed cameras was removed. The cameras were installed following the tragic deaths of a young mother and her daughter after they were hit by a motorist on a busy Plymouth road.
Police are investigating after two men were reportedly seen damaging the lamp-post on Victoria Road in St Budeaux at around 12.10am on Saturday, November 1. The pair fled before officers arrived.
A fixed speed camera mounted on the column was undamaged, but the structure was deemed unsafe. Highway contractors removed the post and isolated the power supply following a structural assessment.
