A police investigation is underway after a laser was shone in the direction of planes flying towards Edinburgh Airport last night.

An initial report alerted officers to a light directed towards aircraft from the city's Cramond area at around 6pm on Sunday, November 2.

Another incident at 9.10pm saw the light shine at the airport's control tower from the Maybury area.

As reported by STV , Inspector Caroline Flynn from Police Scotland condemned those responsible, and asked anybody with information or who has witnessed an incident to contact the force.

She said the culprits had showed a “total disregard for safety” following their “incredibly dangerous” actions.
