ANSONIA, Conn. — Mayor David Cassetti is fighting for a seventh term against retired Sikorsky engineer Frank Tyszka, who hopes to flip the longtime Republican seat to Democratic control.
Cassetti, a former boxer who has served as mayor since 2013, says his work isn't finished.
"I'm not done with what I started back in 2013. I got much more to do," Cassetti said.
The incumbent points to progress including a modernized Main Street and higher property values. He wants to continue focusing on economic development.
"What we need is economic revival. We need jobs, we need lower taxes," Cassetti said. "That's been my motto — to keep taxes low. Taxpayers first, keep it low and keep it affordable here in Ansonia."
Tyszka, a former alderman, says he's running to help a town in trouble.
