SUNLAND – Authorities Monday identified one of two people killed in a weekend house fire in Sunland that also injured five others, including one person critically.
The blaze was reported about 11:10 p.m. Saturday at a single-story house in the 10900 block of North Scoville Avenue, near Wentworth Street, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
Flames were showing when firefighters arrived and received reports of elderly residents trapped inside. It took 36 firefighters about 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze, Stewart said.
“During the fire attack, crews located one person and conducted a rapid transport to the hospital,” Stewart said. “Two additional patients were located but were beyond medical help and determined deceased on scene.”
