A young Melbourne couple who survived a horror car crash say they have a message all parents need to hear after their daughter’s life was saved by a properly fitted car seat.

Toddler Lara was travelling to Albury with her parents Callum Grant and partner Bianca on Friday night when their car struck a gumtree that had fallen across the Hume Hwy.
