A 19-year-old from LaPlace was arrested after according to Louisiana State Police.

Investigators say John Martin, 66, was found dead along LA 628 near Chaisson Lane in St. John the Baptist Parish. His family had reported him missing after he was last seen on the evening of Oct. 21. Evidence suggests his body may have been at the scene for several days before it was discovered.

According to the Louisiana State Police, investigators determined that Martin had been walking a bicycle along the eastbound lane of LA 628 when he was hit by a vehicle traveling in the same direction. The driver left the scene without stopping or calling for help.

Troopers identified the vehicle as a 2018 Dodge Charger driven by 19-year-old Kyrian Joseph Jr. of LaPlace, and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
