Currently serves as Peoria Unified governing board president
Peoria Unified School District governing board President Heather Rooks has put in a statement of interest to run for a seat in Arizona’s 28th Legislative District for the House of Representatives in the 2026 Republican primary.
LD 28 covers parts of north Phoenix, Peoria, Glendale, Sun City and Sun City West.
The primary will be Aug. 4, 2026 and the general election will be Nov. 2, 2026.
“As a proud conservative Arizona wife and mother, I’m running to defend our freedoms, protect our communities and bring accountability back to our government. I will fight to secure our border, stop reckless spending, and ensure tax dollars support Arizona families — not illegal immigrants,” she said in a statement to Peoria Independent.
