The Blue Jays didn’t win the World Series, but the $25-million winner of the Jays Care Foundation’s 50/50 jackpot can take the windfall as a life-changing consolation prize.
An Oshawa name identified as Aric has scored the grand prize of $25,010,057, winning an Major League Baseball record 50/50 prize total.
Blue Jays legend Joe Carter was slated to deliver the news to the lucky winner Monday via a phone call.
Previous Blue Jays post-season jackpots included $3.5 million for the American League Championship Series and $1.2 million for the American League Division Series.
Fifty per cent of the more than $50 million in raffle ticket sales goes to the Jays Care Foundation, while the other half now belongs to the Oshawa winner.
Proceeds from the raffle go to support the charity’s Baseba
