Another 158 people died of overdoses in B.C. in September, continuing a downward trend since the peak of the toxic drug crisis but still leaving over five people dead on average every day.

The B.C. Coroners Service and Ministry of Public Safety released the new figures on Monday.

Over two-thirds, or 69 per cent, of those who died in September 2025 were between the ages of 30 and 59, and 78 per cent were men.

Over the calendar year, the Fraser Health region, with 406 deaths, and Vancouver Coastal, with 366, made up 56 per cent of all deaths across the province. Vancouver (314), Surrey (137) and Greater Victoria (93) had the most overdose victims.
