Volkswagen is reporting a loss of more than a billion dollars in quarterly earnings, due to tariffs and changes to its production line.
The automaker says it lost $1.7-billion in the third quarter because of President Donald Trump's tariffs and company's shift away from electric vehicles.

The Volkswagen Group, which includes Audi, Volkswagen, and Porsche among its 10 brands, has been ensnared in the standoff between the United States and China over Nexperia, a Dutch-based company that makes basic microchips for automakers.
The chips are needed for systems like windshield wipers, blinkers, and warning lights.
