FARGO — Sanford Health is reminding parents to check their child’s car seat to make sure it meets U.S. safety standards.
Katie Heck with Safe Kids Fargo-Moorhead says her program has been seeing a rise in non-compliant car seats. Those can be dangerous for children.
Heck says parents should make sure to buy car seats from reputable brands and double-check that the seat has a safety label stating it complies with U.S. standards.
"If you’re not sure, give us a call. You can bring it to us and we can look at it. You can send us a photo and we’ll look at it. We’re all trained child passenger safety technicians in this office. There’s no fee to do that, our goal is to make sure little people travel safely," Heck said.
A list of approved car seats can be found at https://buckleupmn.org/ .
