IOLA, Texas — It was a scary morning for students heading to school in the Iola Independent School District.

Their school bus crashed and rolled over on Monday morning on FM 244 between CR 162 and CR 110, according to Iola ISD.

They said the bus driver lost control after swerving to avoid another vehicle drifting into their lane. It landed upside down in a ditch.

The Grimes County Sheriff's Office, DPS and Grimes County Precinct 1 deputies were among the first responders who rushed to the scene.

"We are grateful for the quick response of emergency personnel and school staff, and we will continue to support the students and families
