When was the last time you used a penny at the store? The last time could be soon because the U.S. Mint stopped making them.
National chains like McDonald’s are telling customers their change will be rounded to the nearest five cents.

But, in the next few months, you can expect some change to local businesses in Connecticut too, where customers and store owners are parting with the penny.
"I’m going to miss it,” said Natalie Vinci, of Middletown.
“I never use them, they’re dirty, I’m good with eliminating them,” said Annie Dillon, of Wethersfield.
“It’s uncharted territory right now,” said Daniel D’Aprile, the owner of D&D Market in Wethersfield.
