PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- It's taken 3 years for the non-profit Sunshine Division to find a new home but they are finally beginning renovations to its new headquarters near downtown Portland.

For decades, Sunshine Division operated out of its Northeast Portland warehouse along with an empty grocery store in Wilsonville. The new facility will feature a public food pantry and expanded warehouse with 140% more storage.

There will also be several administrative offices, loading docks and a dedicated volunteer area.

Last year, Sunshine Division served local families nearly 100,000 times through its current distribution and pantry services. But with SNAP benefits on the line for so many families, Executive Director Kyle Camberg said they need to be prepared to do more.
