INDIANAPOLIS — Lawmakers and faith leaders along with voting and civil rights advocates from across Indiana gathered at the Indiana Statehouse Monday morning to speak out against redistricting.
The rally, called "Democracy Doesn't Get Redrawn" was organized by the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus and became a call to action for Hoosier voters, to get involved and stay involved in the fight against redistricting.
"Let us defend the integrity of our state and send a resounding message, Indiana is not for sale," Amy Courtney, with Mad Voters told the crowd.
Other speakers told those gathered that Hoosiers were struggling with what they said were real issues, like the high cost of utilities and health care, not what the boundaries of the state's congressional districts looked like.
