[MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa] — As harvest season winds down, communities are gearing up to celebrate "Farmer Wave Week," a cherished tradition that embodies the spirit of "Iowa Nice" and rural America.

The event encourages sharing a smile, a nod, or a simple wave from the steering wheel, a universal sign of rural respect.

A radio station in Marshallow initiated the idea, and in 2014, the first full week of November was officially proclaimed as "Farmer Wave Week in Iowa" by Terry Branstad.
