BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - A man has been arrested and charged with robbery of a church in Bryan during Sunday morning services.
According to an arrest report, Shedon Augusta, 24, walked into the Greater Tabernacle Baptist Church on Florida Street just before Noon and walked directly to the offering platter and grabbed cash and envelopes.
He then exited the building and was followed by a member of the congregation who called 911.
After Augusta was taken into custody, police gathered witness statements and learned Augusta was wearing a mask to cover his face and had one hand in his pocket to make it look like he had a weapon.
Police said Augusta was waiting outside and didn’t enter until it was announced over the speakers that the congregation had just finished collecting offerings.
