NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WAVE) - On a chilly November morning, exactly one year out from the midterm elections, the temperature couldn’t be hotter.
As of Monday, Indiana State lawmakers are on the clock to complete a special session to create new congressional maps. The current map favors Republicans 7 to 2, with the two Democrat-held districts at risk of being carved out of existence.
“What they’re wanting to do is not fair,” New Albany native Debbie Conner said.
“Redistricting when it just got done again, should not be happening right now,” New Albany resident Heather Swinney argued.
Conner and Swinney were two of a few dozen concerned Hoosiers who protested the special session outside The Grand on Market Street in New Albany during a visit by Governor Mike Braun.
