KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Knox County Sheriff’s Office said a student at Halls High School was charged after stabbing another student with a “sharp object” on Monday.

KCSO said the incident involved a 16-year-old boy stabbing a 15-year-old boy with a sharp object during a barbering class. While the specific object was not identified, KCSO Spokesperson Kimberly Glenn said it was not a knife.

The 15-year-old was taken to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, KCSO said, adding that the 16-year-old was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault.

“Due to the ages of those involved, no names or identifying information will be released,” Glenn said. “The investigation remains ongoing by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Crimes Unit.”
