LIVINGSTON, Texas (KTRE) - The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man who was doing on-the-job training as a new jail employee.

On November 1, the sheriff’s office stated, an incident occurred at the Polk County Jail which led to the arrest of a new jail employee, Clifton Greenup, 61.

Greenup was taken into custody on charges of public intoxication and possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility, a felony offense. Greenup was seen by the judge on November 2 and bonded out of jail.

According to the sheriff’s office, while he was on duty, other staff members became concerned about Greenup’s condition and contacted deputies, who conducted field sobriety test on site. Greenup was taken to the emergency room for evaluation due to concerns that a medical condition
