Virginia's Task Force 1 was sent to Jamaica last week and is on the ground helping following the worst storm to ever hit the island

News4 spoke to Robert Schoenberger, who's leading the task force, which is out of Fairfax County

“Crews have been out all of daylight,” he said.

The task force took equipment as well as k9s, paramedics and engineers to offer assistance to the people of Jamaica.

They were able to clear fallen trees that had blocked an entrance to a school that was serving as a shelter.

Getting into devastated areas has been a challenge.
