LEXINGTON, S.C. (WIS) - A local restaurant owner is providing free meals and operating a food pantry to help families struggling with food insecurity.
Jay Webb, owner of Highway 55 Burgers & Fries on Lake Drive in Lexington, announced on Facebook Live that his restaurant is offering free kids’ meals through Oct. 30 with no purchase necessary.
“Those of us who are in a position to try to help out, we can help out. So that’s what I am choosing to do,” Webb said.
Webb has converted his restaurant’s stockroom into a food pantry for the community. On Thursday morning, more than 50 families received food boxes containing ground beef, bread, eggs, milk, canned goods, popcorn and cereal.
